PACKAGING
Our eggs are available in cardboard cartons and Clear plastic cartons, because consumers are more familiar with cardboard. Having looked at the choice, we believe that plastic is the sensible choice, just as we buy our strawberries, blueberries etc in plastic, so we have set out some of the reasons:
The Case for Clear Plastic egg Cartons
Benefits to the Consumer:
You can see what you are buying before opening the pack (and so can others, so no-one should have touched your eggs)
Broken eggs can easily be detected
There is a high level of protection against spoilage
Egg packs can easily be recycled
Benefits to The Environment:
Cartons are produced from100% PET bottles thereby reducing waste
There is less volume to transport thereby reducing petrol and carbon emissions
If an egg breaks during transit, it does not leak down and ruin multiple cartons of eggs, so waste is minimised
